What equipment do I need to tap a beer keg?

A keg coupler

- A keg tapping system

- A gas bottle

View our beer keg tapping equipment options here.

All commercial kegs require a keg coupler which is a special fitting used for attaching and detaching the keg. The coupler connects to the top of the keg, and you connect the gas line from your gas bottle as well as the beer line from your system to it - this lets the beer leave the keg!

Different breweries use different types of kegs, and each type requires a specific coupler. All of our equipment hires include all of the equipment you need to dispense. If you are hiring the keg by itself and you aren't sure what coupler you need please let us know and we will be happy to help!

How do I tap a beer keg?

It's easy to set up a keg yourself in 5 quick steps.

1. Connect your beer and gas lines to your keg coupler

2. Attach the keg coupler to the keg (either twist or slide depending on the coupler)

3. Add ice to your keg tapping system (Skip if using a powered system)

4. Turn on the gas and check gas pressure

5. Turn tap on to let the beer flow!

If you are picking up a keg and equipment and setting this up yourself we will give you a quick demo of what to do and provide you with detailed instructions to take with you.
