We booked Boss Bar Hire for our wedding in Monbulk in April 2023. They were fantastic to work with, great communication and flexible with any changes in the lead up. Their staff on the night were lovely as well. Would absolutely hire them again!

FAQS

  • Does the cost include keg tapping equipment?
Keg tapping equipment is not included in the cost shown above. View our keg tapping equipment options here.
  • How long is the hire period?
You can hold onto a keg until you finish it. If you have hired keg tapping equipment from us the standard hire period is 2-4 days. Our delivery days are Friday/Saturday and collection is on Monday. We will contact you the week of your event to give you a delivery window. Please let us know on booking if you have any time restrictions for delivery (for example you are hiring a venue). Just let us know on booking if you're after an extended hire period.
  • What if I haven't finished my kegs?
If you haven't finished your kegs you can hold onto your kegs and use them at a later date. Ensuring these are stored correctly opened kegs can last around a month (dependent on use by date and brand).
  • How many pots are there in a 50L Keg?
A standard beer keg contains 50 litres of beer which equates to around 175 pots or roughly 5.5 slabs.
  • How many kegs do I need?
Consider how many people are attending the party, how many are beer drinkers, is it a BYO or is there other alcohol supplied, and how long is the event? You may consider: 10-20 people 1 keg 20-50 people 2 kegs 50-100 people 2-3 kegs >100 people 3-4 kegs We're happy to help you work out how many you'll need, just get in touch.
  • What equipment do I need to tap a keg?
    - A keg coupler - A keg tapping system - A gas bottle View our keg tapping equipment options here. All commercial kegs require a keg coupler which is a special fitting used for attaching and detaching the keg. The coupler connects to the top of the keg, and you connect the gas line from your gas bottle as well as the beer line from your system to it - this lets the beer leave the keg! Different breweries use different types of kegs, and each type requires a specific coupler. All of our equipment hires include all of the equipment you need to dispense. If you are hiring the keg by itself and you aren't sure what coupler you need please let us know and we will be happy to help!
  • How do I tap a keg?
It's easy to set up a keg yourself in 5 quick steps. 1. Connect your beer and gas lines to your keg coupler 2. Attach the keg coupler to the keg (either twist or slide depending on the coupler) 3. Add ice to your keg tapping system (Skip if using a powered system) 4. Turn on the gas and check gas pressure 5. Turn tap on to let the beer flow! If you are picking up a keg and equipment and setting this up yourself we will give you a quick demo of what to do and provide you with detailed instructions to take with you. You can also watch our handy 2 minute video demonstration here.
